This Critical Care Awareness Month, ICU Teams Deserve More Thanks Than Ever
From states of emergency to natural disasters, to a pandemic that turned the world upside down, the last year has been one of truly extraordinary challenges. In the wake of these events, healthcare providers in the intensive care unit (ICU) have displayed extraordinary perseverance and heroism.ÌýÌý
As we recognize Critical Care Awareness and Recognition Month, ourÌýÌýwants our nationÄ¢¹½´«Ã½™s ICU nephrologists, nurses, biomedical teams, and intensivists to know that we appreciate the dedication, skill, and compassion it takes to deliver superior care to the most critical patients.
As a provider of critical care equipment and technology, NxStage Critical Care has seen, heard, and felt the stories of sacrifice and selflessness throughout this unprecedented year. We know the hours, workload, and number of sick kept rising, even as those on the front lines desperately needed those figures to fall. We realize that ICUs were often understaffed, underequipped, and overwhelmed during this time, and many gave up being near family, friends, and loved ones to prioritize the patients entrusted to their care.1

INDICATIONS FOR USE:
The NxStage® System OneTMÌýis indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic renal failure, or fluid overload using hemofiltration, hemodialysis, and/or ultrafiltration, in an acute or chronic care facility. The NxStage System One is also indicated for Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in a clinical environment. All treatments must be administered under a physicianÄ¢¹½´«Ã½™s prescription, and must be observed by a trained and qualified person, considered to be competent in the use of this device by the prescribing physician. NxView is a computer-based touch screen user interface that provides online instructions for use, summarized system information, and remote access. NxViewÌýTMÌýis contraindicated as the sole method of monitoring a patient during treatment.2
RISK INFORMATION:
Renal replacement therapy, as with any medical therapy, is not without risks. The decision of which therapy to use should be made by the physician, based on previous experience and on the individual facts and circumstances of the patient. There is no literature demonstrating one therapy is clinically better than another.3
